Matt & I spent days, weeks, months oogling over our gorgeous wedding photos. There wasn't a single thing we wanted to change. I knew I needed a reason to wear my gorgeous dress again, and contemplated packing it up and taking it on our honeymoon with us. That would mean I could wear it while we ran around Disneyland with some amazing west coast photographers we hired for a sweetheart session, and what more could I possibly want in this sweet life? After much deliberation, we decided against packing our wedding attire, but I was determined to find another reason to wear that beautiful dress again.
Then Christy called with the most amazing idea.
An anniversary session at Flag Hill. We could explore every nook and cranny of the vineyard and distillery with nothing else to worry about. We could take our time, see the piggies, and truly just enjoy each other's company.
It was the hottest Tuesday in August, like ever. I had my hair redone, I had our flowers recreated, with a twist. My mom and sister came up to help get my dress back on, and were able to watch our recreation come to life.
We met at our house. Christy shot some gorgeous detail photos including our rings, my dress, flowers and invitations. We were able to include Leia in photos that I never thought we would be able to get. Those will forever be so, so special to me.
Of course, these photos have become so sentimental for us, and we proudly display many of them in various places in our house. They don't replace any of the photos we took on our actual wedding day, but add to our best day ever. I'll share a few of my absolute favorites, and this simple piece of advice: if you're thinking about an anniversary session - for any anniversary - do it. I'm so happy we did!
This ring bag never made it out of one of the groomsmen's pockets on our wedding day. I was so excited to be able to show it off since we had literally forgotten about it with the hustle and bustle of the day.
We are so in love with Flag Hill that we keep every cork from every bottle of wine we finish. They make the perfect ring shot prop.
We explored a tiny little greenhouse on the grounds of the vineyard. Inside were tomatoes - ON THE VINES. Perfect doesn't even describe it.
Flag Hill brings a whole new meaning to farm fresh. Matt loves these piggies and we visit them every time we visit the vineyard.
